Courier Management
Managing deliveries, dispatch and shipping can be a time consuming process due to the manual nature of the tasks involved. There are many opportunities throughout the shipping process for a wide range of operational errors to occur. In the majority of instances, errors occur due to the "human error" factor that is an inevitable part of any manual process. We developed our Courier Management Add-on for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, to help eliminate errors, save time and reduce the costs associated with traditional shipping processes.
Our Courier Management Add-on helps and supports every member of the logistics department. The Add-on simplifies time consuming administrative tasks allowing operatives to carry on with crucial and vital areas of their role more efficiently.
The system unifies shipping, dispatch and logistics into one cohesive system, automatically producing the parcel numbers and all of the related labels and documents. This helps eliminate errors caused by retyping address information into multiple software systems. The system calculates the cost of delivery to charge back to their customer based on the weight of the order. This allows completely accurate shipping costs to be charged at the point an order is completed, saving costs and overheads considerably.
Once the order is ready to be shipped, the dispatch department can access a new interface
which allows them to add additional information, such as the number of packages, whether
proof of delivery is required and any special delivery instructions. They can create the address labels directly from Dynamics NAV, along with any required international documentation, such
as customs declarations.
The system also allows for deliveries to be posted that are not created by sales orders within Dynamics NAV, such as office returns. This ensures consistency and consolidation within the whole dispatch process.
Ease of integration supporting multiple different couriers
Any courier with a web application programming interface (API) can be integrated with Dynamics NAV with a small amount of integration required to allow the two systems to “talk to each other”.
Some courier companies do not offer a web based API to businesses. Instead they will provide a host software package which is installed locally on a business’ own IT infrastructure (either server or desktop computer based). In this instance we can integrate Dynamics NAV with the courier’s host software to achieve the same result as with the API integration.
