Dynamics Consultants has developed an Add-on for Microsoft Dynamics NAV to synchronise phone systems with a NAV contact database to remove the wasted time and effort associated with searching for contact and customer details.

Our Phone System Management Add-on integrates a company's phone system with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, allowing users to quickly and directly retrieve information on contacts. When a telephone call is received, the phone system produces a pop-up list of all contacts associated with that specific number. Once the user has clicked on the name of the specific contact making the call, the program quickly presents important information relevant to that contact.
This provides your telephone operatives with all the relevant and important information regarding the caller to allow them to deal with the enquiry or request quickly with full visibility of the customer history, and it keeps them informed directly about any issues that are outstanding on the customer account. If the number issued by the phone system is not in the Dynamics NAV database, the user is given the option to create a new customer, vendor or contact as appropriate.
In addition, the Phone System allows the user to open customer / vendor cards, contact cards, orders, open a related contacts card or create a new order for the specific contact directly within Dynamics NAV, using one central interface.

Microsoft Lync Server
Through the use of the new Microsoft Lync Server unified communications system even more functionality can be added to Dynamics NAV to synchronise your phone system with your database.
Lync Server is an all-in-one communications system which integrates voice calling with instant messaging features, document collaboration, presence awareness and person to person file sharing.
When linked to Dynamics NAV, Lync Server allows users to voice call contacts directly from Dynamics NAV without leaving the NAV system.
Lync Server controls are available next to each contact and it is simply a case of clicking a button and a call will be connected directly. This ensures employees are comfortable using a system and interface they know already without having to learn a whole new piece of software. Equally it prevents copying and pasting or the manual dialling of phone numbers saving time and preventing errors.
Dynamics NAV is also able to use the presence awareness features in Lync Server to display to users the availability of any contact. On the contact card in Dynamics NAV it will show users the availability of the contact in relation to the contact's own calendar. Through one single window, Dynamics NAV users can see if the contact is able to receive calls, when they are expected to be available and details such as job title, company and address.
