Buying Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is not as simple as buying a product in your local shopping centre! In the modern world, Buyer 2.0 wants to research the information, so as a knowledge hub for Microsoft Dynamics, we have created this definitive guide. If, however, you are still confused, please feel free to ask us for help!
There are two parts to implementing business software packages:
1. Purchasing the software, ie buying licenses for you to use it.
2. Getting set up and running.
We have split this page into two parts, the complex world of licensing (it might not be as complicated as you think!) and getting up and running.
Buying a license means three decisions - how do you want to pay, what functionality do you need and where do you want to put it! Here we have provided some information regarding those three areas, however if you do need further help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is licensed on a per named user basis.
Full users either need to be Essentials users or Premium users (you cannot mix and match). The difference is purely based on the functionality that the business requires. For the members of the company who only require limited functionality, it may be more cost effective to buy Team Member licenses, which can be purchased along side either Essentials or Premium users.
When you buy Business Central, there are two models as to how you purchase the software. You can either buy it fully hosted SAAS which simplifies your infrastructure, or you can go for the "On-Premise" Option.
The second part of purchasing Business Central is getting up and running.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is designed to be a flexible solution that allows you to run your business the way that you want to, rather than running your business around the software. As such, it is highly configurable and although the end users will find it easy to use, setup can be quite involved.
There are three options for implementing Business Central, however the do it yourself option is generally not recommended.
